At BioMoi, we understand the importance of nurturing your vaginal health, and we believe that informed self-care plays a vital role in overall well-being. Join us as we explore ways to prioritize and enhance your vaginal health for a more empowered and fulfilling life.

Understanding Vaginal Anatomy and Physiology

To nurture your vaginal health, it’s essential to have a basic understanding of its anatomy and physiological processes. The vagina is a muscular canal that connects the uterus to the external genitalia. Hormonal influences, such as estrogen, play a crucial role in maintaining vaginal health, affecting its elasticity, lubrication, and the thickness of vaginal tissues. The delicate balance of the vaginal microbiome, which consists of various beneficial bacteria, contributes to a healthy vaginal environment.

Prioritizing Hygiene Practices

The vagina should be considered as a self-cleaning organ. So if you feel that you must rinse the vagina, just use plain water. Avoid using any soaps or douches that can disrupt the natural balance of the vagina. Also avoid “feminine hygiene” wipes and washes that claim to freshen or reduce odor. These can also increase the risk of redness and irritation.

To ensure optimal comfort and well-being, consider the following tips:

Wear breathable underwear: Opt for cotton underwear that allows for proper airflow and moisture absorption, reducing the risk of irritation.

Practice proper wiping techniques: When using the toilet, wipe from front to back to prevent the transfer of bacteria from the anus to the vagina.

Avoid harsh chemicals: Refrain from using scented products, including perfumes, lotions, or intimate sprays, as they can cause irritation and disrupt the vaginal pH balance.

Promoting Sexual Health and Comfort

Sexual health is an integral part of overall well-being. Consider the following tips to support sexual health and comfort:

Effective communication: Openly discuss your desires, boundaries, and concerns with your partner to ensure a healthy and fulfilling sexual relationship.

Practicing safe sex: Use barrier methods, such as condoms, to reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Addressing vaginal dryness and discomfort: If experiencing vaginal dryness or discomfort, consider using water-based lubricants to enhance comfort during sexual activity. For those with pelvic pain or tightness, vaginal dilators under the guidance of a healthcare professional may provide therapeutic benefits.

Embracing Self-Care and Emotional Well-being

Vaginal health extends beyond physical care; it also encompasses emotional well-being. Consider the following practices to support your emotional well-being:

Stress management: Engage in stress-reducing activities such as mindfulness meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises to promote emotional well-being.

Practicing self-care: Take time for yourself and engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation. This can include hobbies, spending time in nature, or enjoying a warm bath.

Embracing self-acceptance: Celebrate and embrace your body, including your vaginal health. Remember that every woman’s experience is unique, and it’s important to focus on self-acceptance and self-love.

Taking proactive steps to understand and nurture your vaginal health is an empowering journey toward optimal comfort and well-being. By prioritizing hygiene practices, supporting a balanced vaginal microbiome, promoting sexual health, and embracing self-care, you can unlock the full potential of a fulfilling and confident life.

Dr. Neysa Whiteman, cofounder of BioMoi

As we mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, it is important to acknowledge the significant contributions of women in the field of science and technology. We also interview Dr. Whiteman, the founder of BioMoi™. In this interview, Dr. Whiteman discusses her journey as a woman in science and the importance of women’s health.
In addition to discussing the importance of women’s representation in science, Dr. Whiteman also touched upon the critical role that women’s health plays in the overall well-being of society. She explained how her work at BioMoi is focused on addressing the unique health needs of women, and how this can have a positive impact on the health of future generations.

Get to know Dr Whiteman
Dr. Neysa Whiteman is a Board-Certified Ob/Gyn with a strong history of practice in women’s health. She trained in Los Angeles at UCLA, USC and Kaiser, and joined a practice in Orange County in 1984 to practice Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In 1990 she moved to San Diego and limited her practice to gynaecology. Viewing herself as an advocate for women, Dr. Whiteman enjoys working to solve women health care concerns during the different phases of life. In the past few years, she has become especially concerned with menopause and the vaginal changes it can cause. With so many advances in that arena, it is particularly rewarding to be able to help women improve their sexual life.

Questions:

How did your journey in science start?
My mother was a pediatrician and my father was an engineer. When I was young my father would take me to the Natural History Museum and The Science and Industry Museum in Exposition Park in Los Angeles while my mother was making rounds in the hospital on the weekends. I was fascinated and I loved reading books about animals and plants. Ultimately I graduated with a Zoology BS from UCLA and Medical Degree from USC. I went on to do training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and I am Board Certified.

What made you pick the field of female sexual health?
I have always been interested in female sexual health. As a gynecologist, I am the first stop for women who complain of dyspareunia, (painful intercourse) or problems with libido or orgasm. I was also doing a lot of work with menopause and hormone replacement and many of those complaints go together. I enjoyed being able to help women find more enjoyment in their sexual relationships.

Are there any other fields you have experimented with?
I was active in the field of genetics when genetic testing was first being used to identify women with familial breast cancer- BRCA 1 and BRCA 2. That soon became “MyRisk” testing. I had the privilege of working with several women with breast cancer who had been experiencing vaginal symptoms as a result of low estrogen levels or Arimidex, an estrogen blocker. It was a rewarding experience to be able to help these women during a challenging time in their lives.

What work have you done as an advocate for women?
I went to lobby on Capitol Hill with ACOG, American College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, several times to advocate for Women’s Health Issues. For example, prolonging mandated postpartum insurance coverage from 6 weeks to one year. I walked for Women’s Reproductive Rights. I am a supporter of Planned Parenthood and worked there in the past.

What advice would you give to young women who are wanting to work in science?
Work really hard! Understand at the outset- it is not a 9-5 endeavor.

In your opinion, which changes are needed in the scientific system to be more attractive to women in science and possible future scientists?
There is a long history of inequity for women in the workplace both in pay, numbers and in respect. Now, there are more and more women physicians and scientists. A lot has been done to make positive changes in the workplace. For example, scheduling can make allowances for women to be pregnant, parent, and still continue their training and practices. But there is still a long way to go.

What is your biggest achievement in your field?
Providing healthcare to women- their daughters, their mothers and their friends. And being trusted with women’s most intimate secrets and concerns.

What was it that encouraged the idea of BioMoi?
There are a few things that gynecologists use and recommend inserting in the vagina. In the arena of sexual health we decided that adding Silver antimicrobial product into the production of the dilators would make women feel safer when using them and make them easier to clean.

Did you have any role models that influenced your decision to work in science?
My mother was a pediatrician and many of her friends were also women in medicine at a time when there were few women physicians. It was a natural choice. I spent a lot of my childhood with my mother when she made rounds in the hospital. Back then the nurses were happy to watch me and there was always egg custard!

What is the most common issue you have seen in women’s health?
Women’s health is an important issue that involves a wide range of concerns, from reproductive rights and access to healthcare to sexual health and wellness. While some challenges, such as the repeal of Roe v. Wade, have had a significant impact, it is important to remember that there are also many positive developments and resources available to support women’s health and well-being.
Additionally, I have witnessed common issues regarding access to information, it is important to have a universal approach towards women’s health that includes various aspects such as contraception, sexually transmitted diseases, vaginal and bladder infections, menopause changes, and risk and benefits of hormone replacement therapies.

Dr. Whiteman’s insights and achievements serve as a reminder of the valuable contributions women and girls make in the field of science, and the importance of encouraging and supporting their participation in the industry.
We hope that this blog has not only highlighted the brilliant work of Dr. Whiteman, but has also inspired readers to take action in promoting gender equality in science.

On a “normal” day, it’s easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle of modern life. I think we can all agree, however, that this year has been anything but “normal.” One thing we all need to keep in mind is that no matter what is going on in the world, no matter how many different ways you can think of to help other people, and no matter how many different things you perceive to be your responsibilities, self-care needs to be a priority. July 24 is International Self-Care Day, and even though self-care should be celebrated more than once a year, let this July 24 remind us of that fact.

Self-Care is Important & Unique To You

You can’t pour from an empty glass. Intellectually, that’s a concept we can understand. It’s a concept that is easy to try to explain to other people. It’s a little more difficult to really apply this idea to everyday life, though. You’re in high demand. You have a lot on your plate. But your physical and mental health are legitimate needs. Self-care is a need, not a want. It’s not something to do “when there’s time.” There won’t ever be time unless you make time.

It’s also not something to do just because someone else is doing it. Meaning, it’s super common to identify self-care using someone else’s definition. Your friend takes a bath with candles, soft music, and essential oils? That doesn’t mean baths are necessarily the best way for you to unwind. Your partner runs every morning? That doesn’t mean running is necessarily the best way for you to prepare for the day. Making self-care one more thing you don’t really want to do that you can eventually cross off your daily list is clearly counterproductive. Self-care is supposed to help ease stress and anxiety, not create it. What makes you feel relaxed? Listening to music? Walking in nature? Reading a book? Seeing a movie by yourself or with friends? Make a list of all the things that help you get your mind off of the daily grind, then make a point to do at least one relaxing thing each day. Time with family and friends, good conversations, having a good laugh—these are also simple ways that we can allow ourselves to actually enjoy ourselves.

Self-care isn’t only about doing something. Sometimes, self-care is about not doing something. This International Self-Care Day, you may want to start the day by creating a list of things you no longer want to do—things that are making it excessively difficult for you to unwind, for example. Consider turning off your phone at night or not checking emails past a certain time. Work on not feeling obligated to say “yes” to everyone who asks something of you.

Check in on Your Physical Health

Let’s not forget one of the most important ways to take care of yourself: your physical health. While you’re setting up appointments for your aging parent or your kids, or reminding your partner to see the doctor, check in with yourself about how you’re feeling also. If you’ve been extra lax on your own routine teeth cleanings, yearly physicals, annual breast exams, and regular gynecologist visits. Getting routine care back on track is incredibly valuable to your physical well-being. But in addition to those routine things, really consider how you’re actually feeling. Are your seasonal allergies under control? Might you need a new prescription for your contact lenses? How is your digestive system these days? How is your sex life? Chances are, you probably don’t have immediate answers to all of these questions. Take some time to think about them.

Take into Account Your Sex Life

Even though it may be a sensitive topic, most women value a good sex life yet relatively quickly dismiss issues as “not a big deal” or “one of those things that come with age.” These are things we tell ourselves to normalize something that isn’t normal. Healthy sex (with a partner or by yourself) is not only a fun way to spend time, but it has also been proven to significantly reduce anxiety. When sexual activities are not fun, it creates or exacerbates anxiety symptoms. Painful or uncomfortable sex, while common for many reasons, is not normal and should not be treated as such. You deserve pleasurable sex! Talk to your doctors about your symptoms, so they can get you on the track to taking back your sex life.

Depending on your symptoms, your doctor may suggest vaginal dilation therapy. There are numerous reasons for painful intercourse, but if you’re free of infection or any other serious medical condition, it’s possible that vaginal dilation can get you on the road to better sex. Whether your issues are psychological, physical, or both, vaginal dilators can help retrain your body and mind into enjoying vaginal touch and pressure. Dilators are shaped like tampons and come in different sizes. You start small and gradually move up sizes as vaginal capacity and elasticity increase. They can even help stimulate natural lubrication and blood flow. Whether you’ve recently had a baby, which can weaken your pelvic floor (the supportive muscles surrounding the uterus), you’ve recently had surgery or cancer treatment, are experiencing menopausal symptoms, or anything in between, this International Self-Care Day, make a point to talk to your doctor about getting the most out of your sex life. Your needs are important—on July 24 and every day.

The post Check in With Yourself on International Self-Care Day first appeared on BioMoi.

For several societal and cultural reasons, female sexuality does not get as much mainstream attention as male sexuality. The female body gets a lot of attention, and according to media and fashion trends, it’s socially acceptable (and encouraged) for women to show off their skin and curves. However, many would argue that our society is focused on sexualizing women while simultaneously ignoring the importance of their own sexual needs and desires. For example, without much brainpower, we can all name at least one medication that treats erectile dysfunction. But can you think of anything that treats female sexual dysfunction?

What is Sexual Dysfunction?

Despite being more common in women than men, with more than 40% of women being affected, and not quite 30% of men being affected, the term, “sexual dysfunction” makes us all think of penile problems. For women struggling with arousal, orgasm, vaginal pain, or other kinds of sexual discomfort, reliable research and general information are hard to find. Whatever the reason, female sexuality as an open discussion is relatively taboo, let alone discussion of vaginal disorders. What information is available is often highly technical or vague, making diagnoses not only difficult to assign but even more difficult to understand. The term “erectile dysfunction” is pretty straight-forward, for example. Terms like “noncoital sexual pain disorder” or “hypoactive sexual desire disorder” are less so.

The media and medical journals aren’t the only ones not talking about female sexual dysfunction, though. Women aren’t discussing it either. For reasons of ignorance, fear, hopelessness, or something else, women don’t often seek medical advice. We’re here to say that sexual experiences should be reliably pleasurable for everyone. For men and women, sexual dysfunction occurs at just about any point in the sexual response cycle, which, simply put, is pretty much anything from arousal to post-orgasm resolution. When someone struggles with any of the stages, including loss of interest, absence of arousal, inability to orgasm, and pain during intercourse, sexual dysfunction may be at play.

Causes of Female Sexual Dysfunction

There are several causes. Sometimes, the reasons are primarily psychological. Body insecurity alone can make it impossible to perform, for example. Another big one is sexual trauma. Even when a woman has a history of sexual abuse and is lucky enough to not have any lingering physical reminders, the brain takes much longer to move on. The mind often continues to associate sexual contact with fear and pain, making a healthy sex life virtually impossible.

Female sexual dysfunction often rears its ugly head as pain or discomfort during intercourse, vaginal dryness, and difficulty achieving orgasm. Dyspareunia is another underlying cause, which is a diagnosis given to those who suffer from a range of physical or psychological factors that cause them to feel pain during sex. Sometimes, this is caused by vaginismus, which is involuntary vaginal muscle spasms. Vulvodynia is also connected to chronic pain when pressure is put on the vulva. Cancer, as well as cancer treatments, can contribute to chronic pain, as well. Let’s not forget about another grossly under-considered group, menopausal women. Aging women make up a vast population of people suffering from female sexual dysfunction. Vaginal atrophy including dryness and the natural decrease in estrogen, is an incredibly common cause of dyspareunia, and therefore female sexual dysfunction. Diabetes, hormonal imbalances, heart disease, stress and anxiety, depression, certain antidepressants, and alcohol or drug abuse are also all potential causes.

Consult Your Physician

Getting back to how common it is for women to not report their symptoms to their doctor, one of the reasons might be the tendency to self-diagnose or downplay symptoms. It’s easy to rationalize symptoms, especially for menopausal and post-menopausal women. It’s common to think sex simply can’t be fun once you get older. However, it’s always best to confide in your doctor anytime your body doesn’t feel quite right. Avoiding sexual contact or suffering through the pain is only going to cause more problems in other areas of life. Relationships suffer, and it’s likely that you can cause more damage to vaginal tissue by ignoring it. Your doctor will know the right kinds of questions to ask and can refer you to specialists to get you on the road to recovery. Finding the right kind of treatment is essential, and unique for each person. For some people, over-the-counter lubricants might do the trick. But for others, it might not be that simple.

Treatment Option for Sexual Dysfunction

Your doctor may recommend pelvic floor therapy, which helps strengthen the system of muscles that support the uterus, including the vagina. BioMoi vaginal dilators can be used as part of this therapeutic practice. They are shaped like a tampon and often start out as part of the in-office therapy, but at-home use is usually encouraged after some progress has been made. The dilators help stretch the vaginal muscles to promote natural elasticity. The antimicrobial silicone gently glides into the vaginal opening, as much or as little as is comfortable for you. Little by little, the body—and the mind—learn to accept the feeling, and sex becomes pleasurable again. There are six different sizes to fit each woman’s body, as well as to allow you to move up in size as the vagina stretches over time.

From what seems like the beginning of time, sexual dysfunction has been the butt of jokes, but in reality, it can ruin relationships and cause increasing amounts of physical and psychological pain. For many people, sex is an important part of life. Just like you’d see a professional about a broken bone, you owe it to yourself to consult a doctor about feeling broken “down there.” For your safety, and for the benefit of effective treatment, always consult a doctor rather than attempting to self-treat. Female sexual dysfunction is real. Maybe your doctor will recommend vaginal dilators, maybe she won’t. Regardless of your course of treatment, we see you. You deserve to take your sex life back.

The post What is Female Sexual Dysfunction? first appeared on BioMoi.

Purchasing a product as personal as a vaginal dilator online may seem daunting. But if you buy from BioMoi, you can rest assured that your health and safety is our top priority.

Stay Safe with BioMoi Antimicrobial Vaginal Dilators

BioMoi manufactures made-in-the-USA antimicrobial vaginal dilators, which utilize antimicrobial technology in the form of a protective coating that makes it impossible for bacteria to breed. Bacteria and mold cause odors and staining, but the BioCote coating reduces over 99% of microbes, and it will not leach, wash off, or wear away. The result is a product that ensures the safety of the user for the life of the dilator. This kind of protection against unwanted bacteria makes BioMoi products the only antimicrobial vaginal dilators available on the market. They even come with a protective case to ensure they stay clean during storage. Imagine what kinds of bacteria or molds might be growing on a used dilator that doesn’t have BioCote. Now imagine experiencing discomfort and mysterious vaginal infections as a result of those microbes. Vaginal dilator therapy is supposed to help treat vaginal conditions not add to the discomfort.

Enjoy the Protection of Return Policies & Secure Transactions

BioMoi accepts returns of our products if you are unsatisfied because we want to ensure the satisfaction of our customers. But we never resell those items, and customers will never receive a used dilator, no matter whether you purchase our dilators directly from our website or via Amazon. We also do not sell your information to anyone and keep all transactions safe, secure, and private.

Trust BioMoi

Women who choose to use dilators, or who have been instructed to use them by a physical therapist, surgeon, or physician, have enough on their minds without having to worry about the cleanliness of their dilator. Peace of mind goes a long way and so does good hygiene. Wanting and expecting a safe product is a no-brainer, and you want to have confidence in the company from which you are purchasing your vaginal dilator. Buying dilators from BioMoi guarantees you’re getting the real deal. Feel free to contact our team directly if you have any questions or concerns about our products. We’re happy to help you on your road to recovery!

The post How to Stay Safe When Buying Vaginal Dilators Online first appeared on BioMoi.

If you’re experiencing vaginal pain, then you may be experiencing vulvodynia. What is vulvodynia? Vulvodynia is a chronic syndrome in which women feel pain with any pressure or touch around the opening of the vagina. It can be caused by a number of factors, and there are a variety of treatments that may help alleviate the discomfort.

Causes of Vulvodynia

Doctors are still unsure of all the causes that bring on vulvodynia, but researchers explore many possible causes. Nerve injury or irritation can cause vaginal discomfort. There could be genetic factors or hypersensitivity to yeast infections. History of sexual abuse or abnormal response to infection or trauma could also cause a woman to experience symptoms related to vulvodynia. Even things as common as hormonal changes and childbirth can cause women to experience vaginal pain.

What Are Vulvodynia Symptoms?

The symptoms of vulvodynia can last anywhere from a few months to years. You may be experiencing dyspareunia, which is pain during sex. The physical symptoms include a burning sensation, stinging or rawness, soreness or throbbing, and itching. These symptoms may also be experienced when there is non-sexual touch or pressure on the vaginal opening. Women experiencing these symptoms should always mention them to their doctor, who can investigate a potential cause. And for women who’ve recently had a baby, although pain during post-partum sex is not abnormal, if any of these signs persist beyond 6 weeks after childbirth, you should let your doctor know. Your doctor can accurately assess whether you are experiencing vulvodynia and determine if you are ready to try treatments, potentially including vaginal dilator and pelvic floor therapy.

Treatment for Vulvodynia

Vaginal dilator therapy is a process of using a cylindrical tool—the dilator—to help relax muscles and help lengthen and widen the structure of the vagina. You first begin with a size that already comfortably fits in your vagina, then gradually increase the size to enlarge the internal space of the vagina. The dilators range in size from the width of a pinky finger to the width of a cucumber. BioMoi’s antimicrobial silicone dilators can even be purchased in convenient dilator sets. The process of this therapy can help alleviate the painful and uncomfortable symptoms of vulvodynia.

If you’re experiencing vaginal pain, then it’s time to discuss vulvodynia and vaginal dilator treatment with a professional to find some physical relief.

The post What is Vulvodynia? first appeared on BioMoi.

We have set out to create the best quality vaginal dilator on the market. Approaching the design of our product with women’s experiences in mind means that you will have a tool to provide the most comfortable treatment possible.

Why You Need BioMoi’s Antimicrobial Silicone Vaginal Dilators

If you have been experiencing any sort of vaginal condition resulting in vaginal tightness, painful intercourse, age-related sexual pain, post-surgery discomfort, or post-partum pelvic pain, you may want to consider vaginal dilator treatment (although, you should always consult your physician before starting treatment). BioMoi will surely bring you the best option on the market. Instead of the typical plastic vaginal dilator, BioMoi’s antimicrobial silicone products provide many benefits for a woman’s body. They are also BPA-free, latex-free, and phthalate-free. BioMoi is driven to ensure the healthiest vaginal dilator treatment because we truly care about women’s bodies. BioMoi antimicrobial silicone vaginal dilators offer many health benefits that other vaginal dilators do not. The developers have approached their design with the foresight to have a woman’s overall health at the forefront, not just the treatment of vaginal discomfort.

More Than Just a Dilator

BioMoi antimicrobial silicone vaginal dilators come in sets with increasing sizes. Each purchase comes with a travel case, making it easy to continue treatment whether you have a weekend away or travel for work. You can begin treatment with the dilator size that is already most comfortable upon insertion. Slowly increase to the next dilator size as you feel more comfortable and you’ll soon notice vaginal tightness dissipating. Six different sizes mean you can increase at your own pace. The US platinum silicone provides a smooth glide into the vaginal opening, so increasing the size of your dilator won’t be uncomfortable. With BioMoi vaginal dilators, you can safely and effectively eliminate vulvar pain from your life. Our toxin-free and sustainable dilators will provide you with the security of a healthy vaginal dilator treatment.

When going through chemotherapy treatment, there are many side effects the doctor will tell you about, but there are some that are a little harder to discuss. People often stray away from openly discussing sex, but it is an important thing to consider when experiencing the side effects of chemotherapy. Women’s bodies are greatly affected by the different medicines used. Many women may not know that vaginal dilator therapy can be an essential part of treatment for painful intercourse after chemotherapy.

Many Factors Cause Vaginal Discomfort

Discomfort can result from not only chemotherapy but also a variety of conditions or even from surgery or pelvic radiation, which can cause inflammation in the vagina. Inflammation can lead to scarring and can also cause the vaginal walls to stick together. Pelvic radiation may be used as a treatment for cervical and vaginal cancer, endometrial or uterine cancer, and anal and rectal cancer. For breast cancer patients, chemotherapy’s impact on the body’s estrogen levels can cause vaginal tissue to become thin, dry, and less elastic—otherwise known as vaginal atrophy, which can result in painful intercourse. Similar vaginal changes occur during menopause. If vaginal penetration is difficult during sex or when using a tampon, a vaginal dilator may help. Vaginal dilators can help counteract some of these side effects from radiation treatment and cancer medications, and even from your body’s changes during menopause.

Start Enjoying Sex Again

Using vaginal dilators after chemotherapy or other cancer treatments can help make sex more comfortable and even more pleasurable as you continue using them. Vaginal dilators are firm, rounded cylinders, usually made out of silicone or plastic, that vary in size from the width of a pinky finger to the width of a cucumber. A woman can begin by using a size that fits comfortably in the vagina, then gradually increase the size to widen and lengthen vaginal capacity. This process will help restore the vagina to a more comfortable length and shape, thus creating a more pleasurable experience during the act of sex through smoother vaginal penetration.

Always Keep Safety in Mind

Be sure to consult with a doctor or health care professional before considering vaginal dilator therapy. It is important to gain a full understanding of how the treatment works in order to decide if your body is physically and mentally ready. Dilation can be a little uncomfortable for some women, so discussing the treatment with a professional will provide a better grasp on how your body might react.

If you decide that vaginal dilation therapy is right for you, BioMoi’s antimicrobial silicone vaginal dilators—the only antimicrobial dilators on the market—provide added protection and peace of mind for women who want to relieve their pain in a healthy and safe way. Our dilators are made of Silver antimicrobial silicone , which eliminates 99.99% of harmful bacteria. Without this protection, dilators are susceptible to picking up the microscopic bacteria, fungi, and viruses that surround us every day. And that could put your health at risk, especially if your immune system is still compromised from chemotherapy treatments.

Painful sex is an often avoided topic after having a vaginal childbirth. Just because people feel uncomfortable talking about it, doesn’t mean you should remain uncomfortable during post-baby sex. Typically, sex can resume 6 weeks after childbirth and many women will feel no pain. But many women will experience recurring pain during or after intercourse beyond that 6-week mark, and although it is common, it shouldn’t be accepted as an incurable “new normal.” Vaginal dilation therapy could be a solution to reduce pain during sex after childbirth as well as a relief for postpartum pelvic pain.

Painful Postpartum Sex

Painful postpartum sex could be caused by hormonal changes related to breastfeeding, a tender episiotomy scar, or lack of sleep. All three of those things are completely common, so what can a woman do to eliminate or reduce pain during intercourse after having a baby? There are a couple of key things to help ease that pain. If you’re still experiencing pain during or after intercourse beyond the normal 6 weeks postpartum, first consult your doctor about these atypical symptoms. You may want to discuss vaginal dilator therapy vaginal dilator therapy with your doctor or healthcare professional as a way to prevent painful postpartum sex. To prep and prime yourself for treatment, remember that wetter is better. Create a smoother vaginal penetration during sex or when using a vaginal dilator by using lubricant. Then, move onto the process of vaginal dilator therapy.

Dilator Therapy for Relief

It may seem scary at first, but vaginal dilator therapy is a process you can work up to. BioMoi vaginal dilators are small cylindrical tools made of medical-grade antimicrobial silicone. They range in size from the width of a pinky finger to the width of a cucumber, and you begin with a size that already fits comfortably in your vagina. You gradually increase the size of your vaginal dilator in order to lengthen and widen the structure of the vagina. This slower process will not only help to alleviate pain, dryness, and tenderness, but it can help you become more comfortable with your partner’s touch during postpartum sex.

Your partner can also help with at-home treatments that limit the adverse affects of painful intercourse after child birth. Utilizing his or her assistance will help you feel more physically comfortable getting back into the regular bedroom routine. Having that support from your partner in your body’s recovery can also help to boost your confidence in the healing process. If you are comfortable having your partner assist you with therapy, he or she will better understand your body and you will feel more comfortable during post-baby sex before you know it. Purchase a BioMoi silicone vaginal dilator today to begin the healing process.

The post Can Dilator Therapy Relieve Painful Sex After Birth? first appeared on BioMoi.
